PESHAWAR: Customs station Torkham stopped clearance of trucks which do not fulfill criteria of clearance through Web Based One Customs (WeBOC) system.

Assistant Collector Asma Javid Paracha said that Customs authorities rejected clearance of loaded vehicles until thoroughly checked and cleared through WeBOC system to eliminate the risk of fake declaration and leakage to customs exchequer. Only those trucks will be allowed to pass the border which fulfills the criteria of WeBOC. No loaded vehicle will be cleared through manual system, she added.

She said the Customs House Peshawar has made it mandatory that the goods clearance must include a picture of the vehicle and goods loaded in the truck to be transferred across the border. The exporters on the other side are not ready to follow the requirements of WeBOC system for clearance of goods.

She said the WeBOC system requires complete inspection of the loaded truck, and details of the goods loaded in the truck are required for clearance through this modern system of clearance. No benefits will come to the government until full operation of WeBOC system is made mandatory at Customs Station Torkham.

The Assistant Collector further said that complete operationalisation of WeBOC system will eliminate the risk of corruption and leakage to Customs revenue collection at Customs Station Torkham. Few notorious people are against the thorough implementation of WeBOC service at Customs Station Torkham which causes problems in clearance of vehicles loaded with goods to Afghanistan.

Assistant Collector Asma said that only those trucks are allowed to cross the border which are cleared under WeBOC service.
