Customs Court grants pre-arrest bail to proprietor of M/s CGA Logistics

KARACHI: The Customs Court granted pre-arrest bail to suspect namely Faizan Fayyaz, proprietor of M/s CGA Logistics, who was booked in a case of evasion of duty and taxes to the tune of Rs2.2 million.

On June 03, 2019, court directed the accused to submit Rs500,000 as surety and appear on next date of hearing without fail.

Earlier, counsel for the accused moved along with his counsel and filed pre-arrest bail, he argued that his counsel is innocent and has been falsely implicated in this case. He further argued that he is ready to face trial, however, he has apprehension of arrest, and therefore, court may grant him bail till final verdict in this case.

Earlier, investigation officer had submitted first information report before the court and informed that preliminary inquiry into the matter had revealed that above mentioned suspects involved in preparing fake PRCs in the name of overseas Pakistani as importers and tried to get clearance of used Toyota Passo, used Suzuki Wagon R, used Suzuki Alto and others on fake proceeds realization certificates which was in serious violation of the mandatory provisions of law and procedure.

He further said that suspects and their associates had contravened the provision of section 32 (1) 32(A) (a) and 192 read with section 3, 6 and 36 of Sales Tax Act 1990 and other related laws, the accused customs agent namely Shaharyar Ahmed, of M/s CGA Logistics, Karachi who had been instrumental in the commission of aforesaid crime, had been arrested and a notice under section 171 of the customs act, 1969 was served upon him.
