Customs I&I starts grand operation against NDP vehicles in Sindh

HYDERABAD: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigations (I&I) Hyderabad has started a mega operation against non-duty paid vehicles in Sindh.

According to the information, on the directive of the Director General of the Directorate General Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) Muhammad Zahid Khokhar, mega operation against non-duty paid vehicles throughout Sindh is under full swing.

Under the supervision of Director Dr. Sadiqullah Khan and Additional Director Syed Naeem Akhtar a team of the Directorate headed by Deputy Director Shah Faisal Sahu, Superintendent Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO), and Intelligence Officers Tariq Rafique as well as Syed Shafiq Ali & Zaigham Ali Shah conducted raids on six different locations in district Shaheed Banazirabad on the directive of the DG Zahid Khokhar.

The six hours long operation by the team of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) resulted in recovery of six numbers of high end luxury vehicles.

Recovered non-duty paid vehicles included Honda Civic Car Model 2007, Toyota Allex Corolla Car Model 2002, Suzuki Jimny Jeep Model 1998, Toyota Premio Car Model 2003/04, Toyota Hilux Surf Model 2004, Toyota Belta Car Model 2006 worth Rs 11 million in the market.

The Directorate conducted the operation with the assistance of Sindh Rangers which obliged by deputing their two squads with uniformed personnel to accompany the Directorate’s team.

It was the fifth intelligence based operation carried out successfully by the Directorate during last two months. This Directorate has conducted these joint operations against non-duty paid vehicles in Naushchro Feroz, Jamshoro, Dadu and Sanghar Districts with the assistance of Sindh Police. So far 15 non-duty paid vehicles have been detained and seized as a result of these intelligence based operations. The Directorate has seized goods worth Rs 400 million and contributed hugely in terms of revenue during the current financial year.

Director Hyderabad I&I Dr. Sadiqullah Khan appreciated the swift action of the Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) team, which seamlessly executed the operation in good coordination with Sindh Rangers, and reiterated his resolve to continue such intelligence based operations periodically in other parts under jurisdiction of the Directorate.
