Multan RTO taking all possible measures for broadening tax net

MULTAN: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Regional Tax Office (RTO) is taking all possible measures for broadening of tax net on the directions of prime minister and stern action will be taken against non-filers after 30th June 2019.

The prime minister has expressed his concerns over narrow taxation. Chief Commissioner Regional Tax Office Multan and other field formations of Federal Board of Revenue were directed to collect data of all account holders above the threshold of Rs 500,000/ and examined their accounts with the assistance of State Bank of Pakistan.

The Federal Board of Revenue Regional Tax Office Multan has collected data of all industrial and Commercial Power connections which were obtained from DISCOs and extrapolated to ensure filing of tax returns. The Regional Tax Office Multan Inland Revenue has taken information about all house owners living in two kanals or above from registration authorities of housing societies like DHAs and Multan Development Authority.

The Regional Tax Office Multan has also gathered information about individuals owning luxury vehicles of 2400 cc and above from Motor Vehicles Registration authorities, importers and car manufacturers. The Federal Board of Revenue has also taken all information about frequent foreign travelers through Federal Investigation Agency and NADRA.

Tax authorities of Multan has analyzed all collected data after scrutiny for the broadening of tax net and stern action will be taken against non-filers and tax evaders in the light of collected data after the 30th June 2019.
