Peshawar Customs generates Rs20m through auction

PESHAWAR: Collectorate of Customs generated Rs 20 million through auction of seized goods during the month of June 2019.

According to the details, Customs Preventive auctioned goods/clothes worth Rs20 million seized from godowns.

Pakistan Customs fulfills objectives of controlling goods crossing frontiers in order to collect duties and taxes. Customs Preventive also implements trade policy to combat smuggling to protect business and public.

The Customs Preventive team was lauded by Collector Customs Preventive Asif Saeed Khan for excellent work done to benefit Customs exchequer. The Customs team in different raids seized smuggled goods which were auctioned and huge revenue was generated.

The sources said that 11 lots of different goods were sold worth Rs17.68 million. The Customs Preventive organized this auction in a very professional and transparent manner under the supervision of Assistant Collector Sajid Khan.

Sources informed that the amount of Rs1.2 million was earned through AIT (additional income tax) on vehicles and Rs0.523 million collected via AIT applied on auction of different smuggled goods.

Sources further told that under direction of Collector Customs Preventive Asif Saeed Khan Lughmani Customs staff informed the auctioneers via advertisement and banners. A huge number of participants attended the auction. Most of auctioneers belonged to Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Peshawar.
