Inflation for June 2019 recorded at 8.89pc: PBS

ISLAMABAD: Inflation in the month of June 2019 was recorded at 8.89 percent, according to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), reflecting an increase of 0.36 percent as opposed to May. The PBS noted that inflation rate for the fiscal year 2018-19 was registered at 7.34 percent.

The PBS further provided details on some individual products and how much their prices rose in June 2019.

The prices of potatoes, ginger, and sugar bumped up 17, nine, and six percent, respectively, whereas daal-e-moong (mung bean or green gram) and daal-e-maash (white gram or white lentils) were respectively five and 3.69 percent costlier. Bread, however, became 3.64 percent pricier.

In terms of fuel, prices of petrol, diesel, and CNG hiked up four, 3.68, and 3.14 percent, respectively. Gold was five percent more expensive and cigarettes were 10 percent costlier.
