Cutlery exports up 1.68pc to $84m during first 11 months of FY2018-19

ISLAMABAD: The cutlery exports from the country increased by 1.68pc during the first eleven months of the fiscal year 2018-19, as compared to the corresponding period of last year.

Pakistan exported cutlery worth $84.009 million during July-May 2018-19, as against the exports of $82.620 million during July-May 2017-18, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

On a year-on-year basis, the cutlery exports from the country during May 2019 witnessed a positive growth of 30.74pc when compared to the same month of last year. The cutlery exports during May 2019 were recorded at $9.383 million against the export of $7.177 million in May 2018.

Meanwhile, on a month-on-month basis, the cutlery exports in May 2019 decreased by 7.50pc when compared to the export of $10.144 million in April 2019.

It is pertinent to mention that the country’s overall merchandize trade deficit plunged by 13.62pc during the first eleven months of fiscal year 2018-19, as compared to the corresponding period of last year.
