Customs North Region earns extra revenue during July 2019

ISLAMABAD: Chief Collector North Asif Jah has advised all the Collectorates to speed up crackdown on smuggling and tax evasion.

According to details, Customs North region comprising Model Customs Collectorates (MCCs) of Islamabad, Peshawar, Sialkot and GB (Gilgit Baltistan) showed outstanding performance with 18% extra revenue under all heads during month of July 2019 against same period of corresponding year, adding that North already obtained extra amount of Rs 1.4 billion against allocated target under all heads for FY2018-19.

The sources informed Customs Today that up to 25th of July 2018-19, the North region received Rs 2920 million under all heads against revenue collection of Rs 2474 million during same period of July 2018-19, adding that North region earned Rs 446 million extra revenue under all heads against same period of past financial year.

It was told that North region received Rs 811 million under head of (CD) Customs Duty while it fetched Rs 582 million under same head for the same duration of corresponding year and the North earned Rs 229 million extra revenue under same head against corresponding period.

The North earned Rs 1453 million under head of (ST) Sales Tax till 25th July 2019 whereas it received Rs 1163 million under same head during identical period, adding that North earned extra Rs 290 million against collection of ST during same period last year.

The Customs North region generated Rs 15 million under head of FED (federal excise duty) while it fetched Rs 77 million under same head during identical period, adding that under FED North showed -91 % less collection against corresponding period whereas the North earned Rs 640 million under head of ST (sales tax) till 25th July FY19-20 while it earned Rs 550 million under same head during same period of corresponding year whereas the North region generated extra collection of Rs 90 million under head of ST against same period last year.
