Peshawar Preventive thwarts attempt to smuggle gold

PESHAWAR: Collector ate of Customs has lodged an FIR against Masta Gul son of Shani Gul for attempting to smuggle gold to Afghanistan.

According to the details, information was received by Collector Preventive Asif Saeed Lughmani that huge quantity of gold would be smuggled from Peshawar to Afghanistan via Torkham through a non-duty paid Suzuki Alto (VXR).

He immediately directed Border Task Force (BTF) on Anti-Money Laundering to enhance vigilance. The customs team comprising Inspector Rehmat Ali along with Class-IV staff namely Havaldar Tanveer Khan, Sepoys Muhammad Nadeem & Afzal Khan.

Subsequently, the suspected vehicle was spotted parked in export terminal. The said vehicle was checked which resulted in recovery of 2.16 kilograms of gold worth Rs15.5 million lying tactfully hidden under the rear seat of the car.

The car was taken into possession and the above named accused person driver of the car was apprehended. FIR is lodged and investigations are underway.
