Customs JIAP foils bid to smuggle narcotics

KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs Preventive team deputed at Jinnah International Airport (JIAP) apprehended accused along with narcotics.

According to the details, on the tip-off by higher authorities, staff of customs JIAP posted at International Departure beefed up the surveillance during which a passenger was intercepted on suspicion.

The customs team inquired regarding the travel documents and conducted checking of the luggage during which one kilogram of amphetamine (Crystal Meth) was recovered from the passengers.

Customs Officers informed Customs Today that the recovered one kilogram of amphetamine (crystal meth) worth Rs 10,000,000 tentatively, concealed in the bottom of the trolley covered with carbon paper layered with iodex to dodge scanning machine operators.

Customs officer informed Customs Today that on suspicion and purely on human profiling, the staff at the International Departure intercepted a passenger after clearance of hand trolley from scanning machine manned by Airport Security Force (ASF). The said narcotics have been seized with the arrest of accused person to lodge FIR and to initiate investigations.
