Gwadar ASO seizes Indian origin smuggled betel nuts, vehicle worth Rs8m

GWADAR: The Customs squad Gaddani Gwader seized 6000 kilograms of Indian origin crushed betel nuts along with vehicle worth Rs 8 million.

According to details told by sources of MCC Gwader, mobile squad Khurkhera during routine patrolling stopped a Hino bus bearing registration No BSA-327 coming from Quetta towards Karachi. The said vehicle was signaled to stop but the driver left the said vehicle and fled to a nearby village.

The sources informed that upon checking the goods recovered from false cavities inside the vehicle, it was loaded with betel nuts 47 bags (18 kgs each bag) and betel nuts crushed 143 bags (37 kgs each bag), and no one came forward to claim the parked vehicle.

The Customs staff took passion of the said vehicle along with above mentioned items and brought the same to Customs house Gaddani. The smuggled goods were seized for violation of section 157(2) of the Customs Act 1969 while notice under section 171 of Customs act was also issued to the unknown person and pasted on the notice board of Customs house Gawader.

It notified that detecting staff comprised Superintendent Saeed Ahmad Baloch, Inspector Aziz Ahmad Laghari and Munsif Ali Shah along with Class IV staff of mobile squad of Khurkhera.
