Customs Court approves challan against M/s Usman Trading Co & others evading Rs11.39m

KARACHI: The Customs Court approved interim charge sheet against Muhammad Asghar, partner of M/s Usman Trading Co, Ch. Atif Shahzad Ahsan, partner of M/s Usman Trading Co, Fazal-ur-Rehman, director/ partner of M/s Z.S. Logistic Pvt Ltd, booked in a case of attempting to evade Rs11.39 million to the national exchequer.

On August 29, 2019, court also issued non bail-able warrants against above mentioned suspects as absconding.

During the hearing, investigation officer submitted that above mentioned suspects imported goods and declared as one lot used auto spare parts, SOC (Shipper Own Container) one way only cargo in transit to Islamabad via Karachi and declared description and PCT of goods as per transshipment declaration filed under section 121 of the customs act, 1969 and rules made there under 1 lot of used auto parts at the value of Rs720864.

He further submitted that on a credible information, customs officials examined the goods which were found old and used Suzuki vehicles having engine capacity 660 CC in dismantled condition IO Japan. 76 pcs used 3,4 cylinders petrol/ diesel engine with and without gear box. 60 pcs used brake boosters, 2351.16 kilograms of EAU DE toilette perfume 100ml, brand Napoleon Boss, Blue Feeling, net contents valuing Rs9.45 million approximately.

Investigation officer stated that accused persons evaded duty and taxes in the tune of Rs11.39 million to the national exchequer and Muhammad Abid, director of M/s Z.S Logistics is in custody, however, others are still absconders.

After the hearing, court approved interim charge sheet and issued non bail-able warrants against all absconding suspects and directed investigation officer to arrest them and produce on next date of hearing.
