Customs I&I tightens noose around smugglers as Rs20m illegal goods seized

LAHORE: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation team foiled a bid to smuggle huge quantity of smuggled goods.

Sources told Customs Today that Director Customs I&I Sadia Munib received credible about smuggling of non-duty paid goods.  She immediately constituted a anti-smuggling squad  to enhance checking in the jurisdiction.

The sources told that the customs team intercepted three Mazda truck loaded with the Chinese made smuggled items which included garments, jackets and cosmatics. The goods were loaded from M/s Karwan and Five Star Goods Services for transportation in Lahore. The market value of seized goods is Rs20 million.

The seized Mazda vehicles were shifted to the Customs I&I office. The driver of the vehicles failed to provide any legal documents regarding possession and transportation of the goods. The customs team registered a case of smuggling and started investigations.
