Customs court approves charge sheet in 7000 liters Iranian origin HSD smuggling case

KARACHI: The Customs Court approved interim charge sheet against suspect Nakhuda Jamshad s/o Abdul Qadir, who was booked in a case of attempting to smuggle non-duty paid 7000 liters Iranian origin high speed diesel (HSD) through launch.

On 22 October 2019, investigation officer submitted charge sheet which was taken into court record and court directed both parties to come prepare for regular hearing.

According to the charge sheet, on an actionable information, high officials of Marine Wing Pakistan Cost Guards Kimari intercepted a launch (SE Milad Mubarak) bearing registration number B-19019 engine number 7FB46393 and during the search of said launch, they recovered 7000 liters Iranian High Speed Diesel, which was smuggled through this launch.

Investigation officer submitted that during the investigation, arrested suspect confiscated that he was smuggling said high speed diesel, investigation officer seeks his physical remand and argued that prosecution needs to collect further evidences and will have to arrest co-suspects, therefore, court may send him back on physical remand.

According to the prosecution, case was registered at the office of Anti-Smuggling Organization HQ NMB Wharf, Karachi for violation of under section 2(s) 157 (2) of customs act, 1969 punishable under clause (89) of section 156 (i) ibid read with section 156 (2) of the customs act, 1969 further read with section 3 (1) of imports & export control act, 1950.
