Multan Customs submits report to MoC over non-compliance of ban on import of tobacco

MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs Preventive has submitted report to Ministry of Commerce and Textile over non-compliance of ban on import of sheesha (tobacco) and non-tobacco and related substances.

Sources told Customs Today that the Ministry of Commerce and Textile has imposed ban over the import of sheesha (tobacco) and non-tobacco related substances on the recommendations of Ministry of National Health Services.

The Federal Board of Revenue has also directed customs authorities to ensure implementation of a Statutory Regulatory Order (SRO) of 2016 made in the import policy order regarding the complete ban on sheesha.

Ministry of Health Services has complained Federal Board of Revenue that import of flavored and non-flavored sheesha tobacco in different places have been done and their efforts to ensure ban on sheesha smoking at public places or use in respective districts.

Their efforts to get rid of flavored tobacco have been confronted by the importer and warehouse dealers and retailers on exhibit of legal import documents of such substance items.

Due to non-compliance of ban on import of sheesha (tobacco) and non-tobacco is causing cancer diseases and relevant authorities are asked to ensure compliance of tobacco and non –tobacco related substances at all entry points of Pakistan

Multan Customs Collectorate has submitted report to Ministry of Commerce and Textile over compliance of ban on import of sheesha (tobacco) and non-tobacco and related substances.
