DI Khan ASO seizes smuggled apples worth Rs15m

KOHAT: Anti-Smuggling Unit of Dera Ismail Khan have seized 5700 kilograms of smuggled apple worth of Rs.15 million along with six offending vehicles.

According to details told by Deputy Collector Mehmood Khattak that in pursuance of information provided by Additional Collector Muhammad Khayal that huge quantity of apples will be smuggled. The anti-smuggling squad enhanced checking on exit and entry points of the city. The anti-smuggling unit intercepted vehicle bearing reg No Z-7187, the said vehicle was apparently loaded with local apples and was coming from Quetta.

He informed that since there were no arrangements of offloading at the spot therefore same was shifted to Kohat for thorough search and storage, on thorough search following goods were recovered, 6 numbers of foreign origin Suzuki pick up vehicles Rs4.8 million along with the fresh apples  as covering material 5700 kg gross, Razavi Instant yeast 100 cartons each of 10 kg, warm clothing (Jercy) 280 kg, Ramtin Cocoa compound 300 cartons each of 6 boxes and Yekta washing powder 100 bags each of 20 kg.

Mehmood told that the total value of recovered goods along with 06 offending (vehicles carrying smuggled goods) were estimated in worth Rs10.3 million whereas the vehicles those were seized under Section 157 of CA (Customs Act) 1969 under value of Rs.5 million, he added that the grand total of the seizure is 15.3 million while the case has been registered and further investigation is under way.
