Faisalabad ASO seizes cloves worth Rs1m

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) confiscated 500 kilogram foreign origin  cloves worth Rs1 million involving in customs duty and taxes Rs 490000.

Sources told Customs Today that Deputy Collector Muhammad Amjad Aman received information regarding a smuggling bid. On this he formed a team included Superintendent Anjum Sherazi, Inspector Manhood Tipu, Azhar Zaheer, Khalid Mahmood, Muhammad Ashraf to foil the smuggling attempt.

The above mentioned team raided a godown near truck adda and recovered huge quantity of cloves. The cloves were being transported from Lahore to Faisalabad. On the direction of superintendent the team asked person present on godown to provide legal documents of the said goods but they were failed to provide the same. Therefore the smuggled goods was taken into customs custody and brought into customs office Faisalabad for further investigation.

Furthermore Ghulam Mohi Din appeared before investigation and submitted an affidavit on non-judicial stamp paper in which he claimed the ownership of the goods and also stated that he is willing to pay duty and taxes livable. However the customs has forwarded case to adjudication after making seizure report for further legal action.

The team seized the said items and shifted in the compound of Customs House Faisalabad. The team released the accused person after proper interrogation. The said deputy collector told Customs Today that the ASO has started anti-smuggling campaign and the department is using all resources to curb smuggling and the fruitful results are observing day by day.
