Customs foils bid to smuggle narcotics to Jeddah

MULTAN: Customs staff deputed at the Multan International Airport foiled an attempt of smuggling of drug tablets to Jeddah.

According to details, Multan Customs authorities intercepted a passenger at Multan International Airport during examination of luggage. A customs team was conducting their routine examination of passenger luggage through scanning at the time of departure where they found suspected tablets in luggage.

During thorough examination of passenger Customs team found that said tablets were drugs and they were also prohibited. Drug tablets were found from the luggage of passenger Muhammad Sajid son of Khadim Hussain who is resident of Lodhran and he was trying to smuggle drugs from Multan to Jeddah through Saudi flight no SV-801.

Customs teams called Anti-Narcotics Force after recovery drug tablets and arrested passenger accused on the smuggling attempt of drugs. Passenger was shifted to undisclosed place for interrogation. Further investigations are still under process.
