SIALKOT: Collectorate of Customs team deputed at Sialkot International Airport foiled local currency smuggling bid in a timely manner.
According to the details, Collector Customs Asif Abbas received credible information about smuggling of foreign currency through the airport. He directed customs team deputed at Sialkot International Airport to enhance checking of all passengers. Customs officials intercepted a passenger Amjad Hussain who was ready to fly to Dubai on private airline flight EK620.
The accused is a resident of Kotla Arab Ali Khan. The arrested suspect tried to smuggle Rs940,000 worth of Pakistani currency in total.
According to customs officials, passengers can carry 3000 Pakistani currency. Customs officials have shifted the passenger to the dry port where further investigation is underway.
