Peshawar I&I seizes chars & opium worth Rs22.46m

PESHAWAR: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation has seized chars and opium from a Toyota Corolla GLI motor car at M-1 Peshawar motorways toll plaza in value of millions.

According to details information was received by Director Rashid Habib that a huge quantity of contrabands narcotics will attempt to smuggled from Peshawar side, the Director ordered the drug cell to make tight vigilance at motorways toll plaza.

Pursuing the above said information the drug cell of Directorate of I&I Peshawar held picket near M-1 motorways toll plaza Peshawar at the mean time a Toyota corolla (GLI) motor car bearing registration no.ALI-515 Islamabad was seen coming from Peshawar side, it was signaled to stop but the driver ignored the signal and sped away.

The driver was chased in hot pursuit and the driver finding no way out started firing on the squad and run way while parked the vehicle on the road side, after intercepted the vehicle the drug squad searched the vehicle on the spot and contraband (opium and chars) were found.

The seized narcotics were found tactfully concealed in tailor-made cavities in the rear seat of the car, it added that the vehicle was then brought to the premises of the Directorate at Peshawar where thoroughly search led to the recovery of 13.800 Kg (thirteen and eight hundred kilogram) opium and 3.200 kgs (three and 200 Kg) of chars which has seized along with carrier vehicle.

The estimated value of the aforementioned seized narcotics and vehicle is around Rs.22.46 million (narcotics Rs.19.76 million and vehicle Rs.2.7 million), the sources added that A FIR No.58 of 2018 has been lodged and further investigation is under way. Ends
