Faisalabad ASO seizes smuggled LEDs worth Rs70m

FAISALABAD: Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has confiscated foreign origin smuggled LED sof Q brand worth Rs 70 million during a successful raid on a godown locaed in Jhang Bazar.

Sources told Customs Today that Additional Collector Enforcement Ghulam Nabi Kamboh received credible information about smuggling of electronic items. After receiving the tip off he immediately formed a raiding party under the supervision of Deputy Collector Amjad Aman Laghari.

On the tip of higher authorities Superintendent Anjam Sheraz constituted a team comprising Nasir Saeed, Azhar Zaheer, Hafiz Mubashir, Mujahid Khan, Waqas Laghari and Syed Zeeshan to conduct a raid on a godown situated in Jhang Bazar where smuggled contraband items were being kept.

The team recovered a smuggled LED TVs in different size including 25 inches 32 inches and 40 inches from the godown and seized it under prevailing customs law while the accused owner fled the scene. A case has been filed against the owner of smuggled contraband items whereas further investigations are under way to search out the smugglers involved in the crime.
