Customs ASO impounds Rs5m non-duty paid vehicles

LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs Preventive Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized two illegally imported vehicles worth Rs5 million.
Sources told Customs Today that the impounded vehicles were inscribed with the fake number plates of World Bank.
The owners of the vehicle have attempted to make fool of the Customs authorities, however, they failed in their attempt and were caught by them. The owners of the vehicle slipped away to save their skin.
Official sources said that the jeep which was being used illegally was valued at Rs3. Million.
Meanwhile the anti-smuggling squad also seized a Swift car.
Sources further told that both the cars were seized under a crackdown conducted under the supervision of Assistant Collector Salman Javaid. Case has also been registered and further investigations are underway.
It is necessary to mention here that Collector Ahmad Rauf directed all anti-smuggling squads to adopt zero tolerance policy towards non-duty paid vehicles.
