PESHAWAR: The Collector Customs Preventive Asif Saeed Khan Lughmani directed to curb smuggling of non-duty paid goods from district Khyber to other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The Collector said this after increase in seizures from Khyber to other districts of the province. The Collector said that local passenger carriages are used to smuggle non duty paid goods.
The Customs Preventive team seized large quantity of auto spare parts, tea and foreign origin clothes from local flying coaches on daily base.
Customs Preventive Inspector Ayaz Khan and Inspector Basir Khan are posted at Khyber district whose report smuggling of non-duty paid goods (NDP) worth millions by these local transports helpers.
The Customs Preventive team seized NDP goods which include tons of black tea and more than five hundreds tan of foreign origin cloth ,auto spare parts which worth Rs 1.2 million approximately.
The customs team was performing duty at Khyber district in Jamrud stoped a passenger flying coach Lwc-4461. The Customs Preventive inspector Basir Khan inquired about origin of goods loaded on top of flying coach.
The customs squad checked the luggage and recovered massive quantity of black tea and foreign brands of clothes . The Customs Preventive team arrested the accused smugglers who were acting passengers and shifted goods to customs house Peshawar.
In another anti smuggling activity inspector ayaz thwarted attempt of smuggling NDP auto spare parts and black tea and seized vehicle no C-1963. Khyber District is close to Torkham Border due to which Pakistan Afghan transit goods are smuggled and distributed to other parts of the province.
The Collector has said to identify the smugglers and transporters who facilitate smuggling in private passenger coaches so that criminal procedure against them could be initiated for making leakage in flow of national economy.
The Customs Collector said on the directives of chief collector customs and Chairman Federal Board of Revenue customs preventive Peshawar staff are committed to curb smuggling of non -duty paid goods.
