ASO Islamabad impounds two motor cars carrying smuggled fabric n worth Rs5.5m

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized two motor cars carrying smuggled fabric in worth of Rs.5.5 million.
According to details told Collector Seema Raza Bokhari received credible information, that two Toyota Corolla vehicles carrying foreign origin smuggled fabric will attempt to enter in jurisdiction, this information was passed on to Additional Collector Ayesha Wani who made a squad led by Assistant Collector Fahd Iqbal who ordered to Superintendent Customs Abid Hussain Malak to made naka bandi at Islamabad Motor ways Toll Plaza.
Fahd said that pursuing the said information the ASO intercepted the vehicles on motorways Toll Plaza which were loaded with foreign origin fabric while on the spot asked the possessors to provide the Goods Deceleration or any other proof against the costly fabric loaded in both cars which could show that fabric brining in legal way, but both the drivers failed to provide any proof.
The ASO squad seized the vehicles and brought both the vehicles into the Customs House Islamabad where they found that both the vehicles are offending vehicles but not NDP (non duty paid) and after thoroughly searching they recovered fabric from one vehicle in quantity of 580 kilogram and from the other 570 kg, he added that total value of the both seized vehicles including fabric is estimated in worth of Rs.5.5 million.
The Assistant Collector informed that both of the vehicles has been seized under Customs Act of 1969 while further investigation is under way, he added that Collector MCC appreciated the ASO squad for this successful seizure against smugglers, he said that the customs squad conducted the said operation was comprises Superintendent Abid Hussain, Inspector Asghar Kamal, sepoys Muhammad Ahmad and Atique.
