MULTAN: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation has impounded vehicles and miscellaneous goods worth Rs.2.1279 billion during first six months July to December for on-going fiscal year 2019-20.
The Directorate carried out various anti-smuggling operations against smuggled goods and vehicles in the territory on the directions of Director Dr. Muhammad Adnan Akram.
During the above said period Customs Intelligence and Investigation teams detected 196 seizure cases during anti-smuggling campaign. Customs Intelligence and Investigation field staff impounded 84 foreign origin smuggled vehicles.
Directorate of Customs Intelligence teams conducted raids on the basis of credible information and anti-smuggling operations were carried out in different areas of Multan, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Dera Ghazi Khan, Sare-i-Muhajir and Sadiqabad during first 25 days of November. These seized Mazda truck includes Audi, BMW, Toyota Pajero jeep, Toyota Land Cruiser, Toyota Fielder, Toyota Mark X, Hino truck and others vehicles of different brands.
Field Intelligence Unit of Customs has enhanced monitoring of the goods and vehicles at the suspected routes of territory which were adopted for transportation of smuggled goods and vehicles to restrain smuggling.
Customs Intelligence and Investigation has seized huge quantity of cloths , skimmed milk, tiles, tyres, auto parts, High Speed Diesel, blended tea, contraband medicines ,dry fruits and others in their various anti-smuggling actions in the jurisdiction to curb menace of smuggling in Jurisdiction.
Director Muhammad Adnan Akram has enhanced cooperation with other law enforcement agencies to curb the menace of smuggling from Jurisdiction and enhance the patrolling of the Customs Intelligence staff to capture smuggled goods and vehicles in the territory.
