MULTAN: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation I(I&I) sold out four consignments of foreign Origin fresh apples in Rs2.8 million during auction.
According to details, an open bid was held by Customs Intelligence and Investigation to auction of seized fresh apples at Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Office Multan. Huge number of fruit brokers participated in the auction of fresh apples at Raja pur near Edhi Village. Bidders were offered foreign origin apple at a cheaper rate than market price.
It is pertinent to mention here that Custom Intelligence team intercepted four trucks near Dera Ghazi Khan which were loaded with fresh apples packed in different plastic crates and trucks were coming from Baluchistan to transport said fresh apples in South Punjab.
Field Intelligence Unit of Customs recovered almost 3580 plastic crates approximately 36000 Kilograms of foreign Origin fresh apples. The fresh apples were Iran Origin and they were transporting Apples for supplying in the local fruits markets. Foreign Origin Apples has high up demand in Punjab and smuggling of Apples has also been going up in the jurisdiction. Intercepted Apples were auctioned early because they are perishable items.
Assistant Director Multan Javed Raza and Inspector Zafar Iqbal supervised the auction of foreign origin apples.
