FAISALABAD: Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized smuggled 10000 liters of diesel worth Rs 19.6 million and also impounded vehicle during a crackdown.
Sources told Customs Today that Deputy Collector Amjad Aman Leghari received credible information regarding smuggling of Iranian diesel .
After receiving the tip off he immediately formed a team under the supervision of Superintendent Anjum Sheraz which also includes inspector Hafiz Muhammad Mubashir, Tariq Usmani and Ghulam Rasool, Sajjad Hussain, Muhammad Shabbir.
The ASO team intercepted an oil tanker bearing registration no: FDJ-4486 near Bhakkar Road Jhang and recovered 10000 liters of Iranian diesel along with oil tanker .
The team asked the driver Muhammad Asim who claim the ownership of goods and oil tanker to produce legal document regarding the legal possession of Iranian diesel but he failed to provide any documents on which the ASO team confiscated the diesel besides impounding the oil tanker under the prevailing customs law.
