LAHORE: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) recovered Rs100 million dry fruits from a cold storage godown near Ring Road.
Sources told Customs Today that, Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Sadia Muneeb received credible information that huge quantity of non-duty paid dry fruit are dumped in a cold storage near Rind Road.
She immediately constituted anti-smuggling squad. The anti-smuggling squad raided a godown near Ring Road and recovered huge quantity of non-duty paid dry fruit. The seized dry fruit included Iranian origin dates, zeera and other items. The market value of seized goods is around Rs 100 million
The customs authorities after registering a case has started investigations against the owner of the cold storage godowon.
It is necessary to mention here that Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Sadia Muneeb already directed all anti-smuggling squads to adopt zero tolerance policy against smuggling. She further directed that anyone who found involved in smuggling should be dealt with iron hands and as per law.
