ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has extended time limit for filing of Goods Declaration (GDs) from 10 existing days of arrival of goods to further 15 days (total 25 days) for all the IGMs filed between 17th March and 7th April, 2020 under section (I) read with section 156 (I) (47A) of the Customs Act, 1969.
A circular issued by the FBR read that although the Collectorates are operating normally, however, on account of the on going lockdown on provincial governments to address the prevailing pandemic of COVID-19, the importers and clearing agents are facing hardships in filing of goods declaration within the time limit prescribed under section 79 (I) read with section 156 (I) (47A) of the Customs Act, 1969. The consequent penalty on this account is causing undue hardship to the traders as the circumstances for filing is, prima facie, beyond their control.

Requests have also been received from the FPCCI and KCCI for extension in said time limit for filing of goods declarations.
In order to facilitate the trade, the FBR is pleased to extend the time for filing of goods declarfation in exercise of powers under section 224 of the Customs Act, 1969 from the existing 10 days of arrival of goods as prescribed under section 79 (I) of the Customs Act 1969 from the existing 10 days of arrival of goods to further 15 days (total 25 days) for all IGMS filed between 17 March and 7th April, 2020.
