KPT directs to implement free period from 5 days to 15 days

KARACHI: Karachi Port Trust (KPT) directed to implement decision regarding implementation of free period from 5 days to 15 days with immediate effect.

A letter addressed to president, Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), All Pakistan Customs Agents Association, All Pakistan Shipping Association, Karachi Customs Agents Association, Pakistan Ships Agents Association, and Karachi Export Processing Zone and  secretary, Pakistan Stevedores Conference (G) Ltd read that “pursuant to letter reference ‘A’, it is stated that due to prevailing situation COVID-19 and in order to facilitate the port users/trade, the Federal Cabinet Government of Pakistan has conveyed approval for extension in the existing free period from 5 working days to 15 working days for cargo/containers landing with effect from 25.3.2020 till  30.4.2020.

It is necessary to mention here that on the proposal moved by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, ECC approved the KPT Board Resolution for extension in existing free period from 5 working days to 15 working days for cargo/containers landing with effect from 25-3-2020 till 30-4-2020.
