ISLAMABAD: Collector Customs Adjudication Iram Amir has said that the Collectorate has imposed penalty of Rs 1 million against M/s Malika Traders Lahore for attempting to export face masks worth Rs 15 million via Islamabad International Airport during this time of crisis.
“My job is to do public dealing and it is very important to do the job as a government servant during this difficult time”, the Collector Adjudication said this while talking with Customs Today during an exclusive interview here. She said that it is hard to continue work in current scenario but I have taken various preventive measures for office staff so their safety against COVID19 could be ensured.
She said that due to Coronavirus bulk quantity of gloves and masks is not available in the market to run offices, adding that she has purchased preventive tools like gloves, sanitizers and masks by herself for staff because the Collectorate does not have enough funds to buy personal protection goods, whereas she has floated a demand for walk-through sanitizer gate for safety of public and Customs staff.
She said that the Collectorate is not entertaining hearings of more than four cases per day, adding that “we entertain four cases per day to avoid more rush in the office”. The Collector including Additional Collectors and Deputy Collector Adjudication are not entertaining third party hearings during prevailing situation, she said and added that during COVID19 pandemic situation she suspended hearing at the Customs Collectorate Peshawar because of long travelling.
Answering a query Miss Amir said that she joined Islamabad Adjudication Collectorate in the month of November 2019 and total 14 number of cases were decided during this period from 12th to 30th November while she fetched Rs 115.133 million revenue into the government exchequer.
During month of December-2019 the Collector Adjudication decided 60 numbers of cases and fetched revenue worth Rs 670.916 million as well as during month of January 2020 the Collectorate decided 40 number of cases and added revenue of Rs 399.065 million.
The Collectorate of Adjudication decided 21 number of cases during month of February 2020 while collected revenue worth Rs228.939 million as well as the Collectorate of Adjudication settled 08 number of cases and generated revenue worth Rs314.919 million.
Collector Adjudication Iram Amir concluded that during her stay at Adjudication the Collectorate earned Rs 1728.972 million of revenue for national exchequer.
