With reference to the locust hoard attacks, the report said that the Rabi crop was not harmed by locusts. The locust attacks affected a total of 25,000 acres of Punjab’s cultivated land.

The report further says that according to the law, aid can be provided if 50% of the area is affected but no district of Punjab has recorded such levels of loss, as of now.

It says that the growth of locust hoards started in December 2019 from Cholistan and the impression of locust hoards dying down in cold weather proved to be incorrect. The report says that the government implemented an emergency to deal with locusts and purchased equipment on urgent basis.
