Customs I&I impounds Rs40m smuggled ceramics tiles near Hanjarwal

LAHORE: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) team has impounded over Rs40 million smuggled ceramics tiles in an intelligence based operation near Hanjerwal.

Official sources told Customs Today that Director Customs I&I Asad Rizvi received credible information that a stock of illegally imported Iranian tiles was to be moved near Hanjarwal.

He immediately directed Additional Director Hassan Farid to use all available resources to thwart any attempt of smuggling.

After the directions of the Directo,r anti-smuggling team was constituted under the supervision of Deputy Director Shahzad Ranjha.

After fulfilling all the requisites of the raid, the team under took the operation and impounded godown of illegally imported tiles worth Rs40 million. The sources said that the godown was being managed by Mohsin Butt.

The Customs authorities registering case have initiated further investigations.
