ISLAMABAD: The sale of motorbikes and three-wheelers plunged by 25.72pc during the first 11 months of the financial year 2019-20, as compared to the corresponding period of last year.
According to data released by the Pakistan Automobile Manufacturing Association (PAMA), as many as 1,221,943 motorbikes and three-wheelers were sold during July-May FY20, as against the sale of 1,645,229 units during July-May FY19.
The sale of Honda motorcycles went down by 23.81pc, from 1,028,945 units last year to 783,863 units during the period under review, while that of Suzuki motorcycles plunged by 25.07pc, from 21,549 units to 16,145 units.
Likewise, the sale of Yamaha motorbikes witnessed a drop of 17.21pc (from 21,973 units in 11MFY19 to 18,191 units); Ravi motorbikes saw a sharp decline of 56.55pc (from 24,220 units to 10,522 units); United Auto motorcycles’ sales fell by 23.42pc (from 339,311 units to 259,828 units), whereas the sale of Road Prince motorcycles decreased by 34.99pc (from 149,036 units to 96,883 units).
Meanwhile, the sale of Road Prince three-wheelers witnessed a decline of 20.30pc under the period under review (from 10,784 units to 8,594 units); Sazgar three-wheelers saw a 30.50pc decrease in sales (from 14,425 units to 10,025 units); the sale of Qingqi three-wheelers fell by 43.09pc (from 20,405 units to 11,611 units), while that of United Auto three-wheelers dropped by 51.76pc (from 11,104 units to 5,356 units).
