Customs AFU foils bid to smuggle Boostin injections through parcels

KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs Preventive ASO team deputed at Air Freight Unit (AFU) foiled a bid to smuggle huge quantity of Boostin injections through parcel worth million of rupees.

Sources toldCollector Irfanur Rehman directed to enhance vigilance on suspicious courier parcels and detained them.

Sources told that credible information was received about smuggling of Boostin injections through parcels.

Acting on profile based intelligence, ASO intercepted and effected a seizure of contraband Boostin /Somatotropin hormone that is marketed to dairy farmers to increase milk production in diary animals.

Several parcels arriving from Dubai and South Africa through courier services were identified and examined, which led to the recovery of huge quantity of Boostin injections. It may be a AFU had seized one such parcel earlier, and investigations into that matter led to arrest of five persons.

Based on the information received from the arrested accused, several other consignments were seized. Notices have been served on M/s Gerry’s Dnata and M/s Fedex, while role of clearing agent M/s Fedex, M/s Gerry’s Dnata is also being determined.
