LAHORE: Federal Board of Revenue FBR has asked all the Customs and Inland Revenue (IR) officials to reimburse the cash reward for the financial year 2019-20, sources told Customs Today.

The sources said that the government has ordered the customs and IR officials to reimburse the cash reward as both the organs have failed to meet the target assigned which was Rs5.5 trillion.

The sources said that the FBR officials could collect only Rs3.5 trillion and thus the government has decided to collect cash awards from the Customs and IR officials.

As per a notification issued it is said that “surrender funds in respect of three demand of FBR i.e. 45-FBR, 46-customs and Inland Revenue under the head of account A0 3959 stipends, incentives awards, allied expenditures for the financial year 2019-19”.

It was said that the funds allocated under the heads may be surrendered immediately.

The head of the departments of the field formations are requested to ensure recovery of payments sanctioned from the account A03959.

However, the IR and Customs officials have resented the move saying that such an act will demotivate the officials thereby impacting the revenue collection for the financial year 2020-21. They said that the set target for 2020-21 may be missed due to the very reason.
