MULTAN: Customs Collectorate of Enforcement & Compliance (E&C) has seized three non-custom paid vehicles of Rs6.7 million from Dera Ghazi Khan.
According to details, Multan Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization has accelerated crackdown against smuggled vehicles on the directions of Collector Muneeza Majeed. Collector Muneeza Majeed has directed field staff of Anti-Smuggling Organization to step up their operations to curb smuggling of non-customs paid vehicles and goods.
Anti-Smuggling Organization vehicle cell Dera Ghazi Khan enhanced vigilance to restrain smuggling of non-duty paid vehicles in the region. Customs Anti-Smuggling Squad Dera Ghazi Khan carried out different actions against non-duty paid and tampered vehicles.
Anti-smuggling staff includes Inspector Asif Rafique Sandhu and others participated in the various actions.
Customs team impounded Golden Toyota Axio which was displaying registration number AZW-393 of Model 2006. The value of said vehicle is Rs2.5 million. Anti-smuggling squad seized Golden Toyota X car bearing registration number: LEB-7056 from Dera Ghazi Khan. The customs team seized vehicle was 2008 and the value of seized vehicle was Rs2.2 million.
Same teams intercepted vehicle of Silver Toyota Fielder of worth Rs2 million bearing registration number of AWG -515 from Sakhi Sarwar region during their enhance monitoring. Customs anti-smuggling squad impounded said vehicle. Customs found that all vehicles were tampered and brought into the country clandestine routes.
Customs asked the drivers of the said vehicles to produce documents for proving legal possession of the vehicles, but they failed to present any documents regarding.
Multan Customs seized all three vehicles under Customs Act 1969. The values of the seized vehicles were almost Rs6.7million. Further investigations are still under way.
