Quetta ASO seizes marijuana worth Rs210m near Kolpur check post

QUETTA:  Collectorate of Customs Preventive, Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) team seized 1000 kilogram of foreign origin marijuana worth Rs210 million which was concealed in secret compartments of ten wheeler truck.

According to details the Collector Preventive Irfan Javed received a tip-off that some drug smugglers are taking advantage of COVID19 pandemic situation will smuggle large quantities of drugs into the country.

Special orders were issued in this regard to Additional Collector Yasir Kalwar and Deputy Collector Akbar Jan while a senior probation officer Shehzad Akhtar was posted in the area which tightened on the Quetta-Sibi route.

The team during patrolling intercepted a ten wheeler truck which was coming from Quetta and was going inside the country. During search the ASO team found huge quantity of marijuana which was tactfully hidden in the secret compartment of truck.

Due to the dark night and the much busy highway the driver managed to escape, the action is being taken against the unidentified persons by registering an FIR.

The Collector informed that in the last few days, 1600 kg of cannabis worth about Rs300 million has also been recovered, he adding that the Chief Collector Dr Saifuddin Junejo appreciated the work of the staff despite the limited resources of Customs Quetta.
