EFP launches MNED project training programme in Sialkot

SIALKOT:  “Health and safety are the priority of new normal after the COVID Crisis. Productivity, quality and competitiveness is the ultimate priority for the enterprises to succeed as they fight the after effects of COVID crisis. FPRWs and MNED principles are the driving forces to lift the social face of the enterprises as they demonstrate responsible business and CSR. All the above is vital for business sustainability in the post COVID scenario.”

The above thoughts were emphasized by prominent trainers in the 4 days factory-based training program organized by Employers Federation of Pakistan in collaboration with Sialkot Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI) and International Labour Organization (ILO).

The above initiative is the part of the 3rd phase of MNED Project on “More and Better Jobs through Socially Responsible Labour Practices in the Sports Goods Industry of Sialkot” funded by the Government of Japan (ILO/Japan Fund for Building Social Safety Nets in Asia and the Pacific). The Project contributes towards encouraging MNEs and National companies to develop a positive approach to economic and social development through socially responsible labour practices.

The 1st Day of training session, in which around 70 participants actively participated. The 4days training with aim to train more than 300 participants will end on 21st August 2020. The training areas included occupational Health, Safety, Productivity & Quality Improvement for enterprise competitiveness and FPRWS and MNED principles as tools for CSR and responsible business practices. The training was conducted by Akhtar Quddus, Irfan Abdullah, Syed Nazar Ali, Fasihul Karim Siddiqi and Muhammad Aram.

Major (r) Khawaja Javed, director operations, Forward Group of Company, Muhammad Ali Butt, president, Forward Gear Workers Union, Abdul Waheed Sandal, former president Sialkot Chamber & former EFP board member and advocate Muhammad Saad, deputy secretary general, Pakistan Workers Federation addressed the concluding session and distributed certificates among participants.

Ms. Nuzhat Jahan, EFP project executive and Ghulam Mustafa Tabbasum, EFP project coordinator Lahore office effectively coordinated in organizing the training program successfully.
