ANF & Customs foils attempt to smuggle drugs to Dubai

MULTAN: Anti –Narcotics Force (ANF) and Customs staff deputed at the Multan International Airport foiled an attempt to smuggle drugs to Dubai.

Sources told Customs Today that Collector Muneeza Majeed has directed Assistant Collector Hafiza Aqsa to tighten scrutiny at the Multan International Airport and thwart any attempt of smuggling.

Multan Customs Collectorate Enforcement & Compliance (E& C) has enhanced monitoring of passengers to thwart any attempt of smuggling.

Customs team intercepted a passenger at Multan International Airport during examination of luggage through scanning at the time of departure where they found cocaine in luggage.

The cocaine was tactfully concealed in secret places of the bags. Later the passenger was uidentified as Hafiz Rab Nawaz son of Muhammad Sadiq who is resident of Jalalpur Pirwala and he was trying to smuggle cocaine from Multan to Dubai through private flight. The weight of seized cocaine was almost 1.3 kilogram in weight and worth almost millions in international market.

Customs teams called Anti-Narcotics Force after recovery of drugs and arrested passenger accused on the smuggling attempt of drugs. Passenger was shifted to undisclosed place for interrogation. Further investigations are still under process.
