Multan I&I seizes skimmed milk powder, & cosmetics worth Rs3.8m from private warehouse

MULTAN: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation seized huge quantity of skimmed powder, Rani juices and UHT creams worth Rs2.5 million during raid at private warehouse in their action.

Sources told Customs Today, Additional Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Saeed Ahmad Watto received credible information that huge quantity of smuggled items dumped in the Sir Syed Town Faisalabad.

Additional Director Customs Intelligence alerted Customs I&I staff in Faisalabad and directed them to enhance monitoring of suspected warehouse and took permission for the search warrant of said warehouse under section 162 to foil any bid of smuggling in the region.

Customs Intelligence formed special team led by Superintendent Muhammad Sarwar and other staff to take action against smuggled goods. Customs Intelligence Field Unit of Faisalabad requested District Police Administration for smooth execution of search during their action.

Field Intelligence Unit of Faisalabad recovered 10000 kilograms of skimmed milk powder Khizra brands packed in 420 plastic bags, Chibo UHT cream packed 1320 tetra pack and 102 crates of Rani float Juice which were almost 2448 tins . The origin of recovered skimmed milk, UHT cream and Rani Juice was Iran and they were smuggled through Baluchistan.

During search of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Muhammad Sufiyan claimed the ownership of the recovered goods but on demand he failed to furnish any documentary evidence in support of import and lawful possession of the recovered goods. Said goods were smuggled in the country through clandestine route evading payment of duty taxes. The net values of said goods were Rs3.8 million.

Customs Intelligence seized the skimmed powder milk, rani juices and UHT creams under customs act 1969 and further investigations regarding the said goods were still under process.
