Quetta Preventive thwarts attempt to smuggle betel nuts worth Rs30m

QUETTA: Collectorate of Customs Preventive team foiled an attempt t smuggle 21,000 kilograms of betel bets from Taftan.

According to sources, Collector Preventive Irfan Javed received credible information about smuggling attempt of betel nuts. He directed Deputy Collector Akbar Jan to take necessary measures to thwart any attempt of smuggling.

The customs team under the supervision of Inspector Fareed Rind intercepted a container at Customs Nushki check post and recovered 21000 kilograms betel nuts.

In meanwhile with the collaboration of FC, 7 vehicles were also detained. The said cars were loaded with betel nuts. Three of the cars were Non Customs paid. The total recovered betel nuts are 25000 kilograms and its market value is around Rs30 million.

Collector Appraisement Quetta Abdul Waheed Khan Marwat and Additional Collector Qasim Khoker are keeping strict vigilance on all imports from Afghanistan.

It is necessary to mention here that huge quantity of dry fruit is smuggled from Afghanistan under the garb of fruits, vegetables and other goods. This illegal trade is almost eliminated.

Customs Preventive Quetta under the leadership of Collector Irfan Javed and Deputy Collector Akbar Jan is pursuing an efficient crackdown on transportation of smuggled goods.
