Quetta Customs seizes smuggled goods, vehicle worth Rs70m

QUETTA: Collectorate of Customs Preventive anti-smuggling squad seized huge quantity of smuggled goods at Darakhshan-Bolan check post worth Rs70 million.

Sources told that Collector Irfan Javed received credible information about smuggling of goods. He immediately directed Deputy Collector Akrar Jan to enhance checking in the jurisdiction to foil any attempt of smuggling.

The anti-smuggling squad under the supervision of Inspector Shahzad Akhtar intercepted a vehicle near Darakhshan-Bolan check post. During checking, customs anti-smuggling squad recovered betel nuts, cigarettes, tyres, mobile phones and shoes etc. The market value of recovered goods is around Rs70 million. The anti-smuggling squad shifted the entire goods and vehicle to warehouse. Customs anti-smuggling squad registered a case of smuggling and started investigations.

It is necessary to mention here that after assuming the charge, Collector Customs Preventive Irfan Javed has expedited the anti-smuggling drive and advised anti-smuggling squads to keep strict vigilance on the movement of vehicles through various check posts to foil any attempt of transporting smuggled goods into the country.
