ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has hinted that FBR might offer a golden handshake scheme for the redundant workforce of the Inland Revenue Service officials. As per the document, the implementation is likely around June 2021.
According to sources, district tax offices will be established all over the country, in first phase district tax offices will be established in Gwadar, Loralai, Tharparkar, Ghotki and Mangora. It is also decided to introduce simple tax form for salaried and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
Sources said that a Golden Handshake Scheme is also on the cards for surplus employees of Federal Board of Revenue and its field offices. 4113 employees which includes naib qasids, lower division clerks, upper division clerks, supervisors and other staff would be reposted.
Government is also considering to hire services of public relations agency for image building of and media management of FBR. Proposal to hire professional inspectors, auditors on contract basis is also under consideration, while around 100 time bonds will be introduced.
After instructions from Prime Minister Imran Khan, a comprehensive reforms programme being finalized and will be forwarded to prime minister office for approval.
According to FBR reform program separate reforms are prepared for Pakistan Customs Service and Inland Revenue Services. A deadline will be assigned to every department and officials to meet targets. According to documents available with media reforms programme will be implemented up to 2023 and major part of reforms programme will be completed till June 2021.
