Petroleum imports drop 26.5pc YoY in July-Sept quarter

ISLAMABAD: Petroleum group imports during the first three months (July-September) of the current fiscal year (2020-21) reduced by 26.55pc as compared to the corresponding period of the last year.

According to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the petroleum group imports dropped from $3.17 billion in 1QFY20 to $2.32 billion in 1QFY21.

Within the group, the import of petroleum products reduced by 14.68pc, from $1.32 billion last year to $1.12 billion, while that of crude decreased by 15.86pc, from $823,324 last year to $692,729.

The import of natural gas, liquified machinery imports plunged by 56.52pc, from $965,584 in 1QFY20 to $419,884.
