MULTAN: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) foiled a bid to smuggle non-duty paid tyres, auto parts and others goods worth Rs5 million.
Sources told Customs Today that Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan Usman Bajwa received a tip-off that some smugglers are trying to smuggle luxury vehicle tyres, auto parts and other accessories from Quetta to Faisalabad. The Director alerted the Customs Intelligence Field Unit (FIU) to intercept them through enhancing patrolling of the suspected routes.

Customs Intelligence and Investigation team enhanced the surveillance of various suspected routes and started searching of vehicles.
During the search operation, the team intercepted a suspected truck which was coming from Quetta to Faisalabad near Chichawattni. Customs Intelligence and Investigation staff recovered almost 260 HTV tyres of various brands, auto spare parts and welding electrodes.
Customs Intelligence staff asked the driver of the vehicle to provide relevant import documents of said goods to prove legal possession and he failed to provide any import documents.
FIU of Customs seized entire goods under customs act 1969. Further investigations are still under way. The net value of seized goods is almost Rs5 million.
