Chairman AKD Group appears before court on complaint filed by JS Bank

KARACHI: Additional District & Session judge South issued non-bailable warrants against senior anchorperson Mubashir Luqman and directed office to serve the warrants through Samma TV and PEMRA for Nov 07, 2020 on complaint filed by JS Bank Ltd alleging accused persons entered into a criminal conspiracy to defame ex-chairman of the complainant Bank.

On 26 October 2020, during the hearing, Aqeel Karim Dhedhi (AKD), Chairman AKD Group appeared before the court along with his counsel, however, another accused Mubashir Luqman was absent, therefore, court issued his bail-able warrants and adjourned the hearing for November 7, 2020.

Earlier, counsel for the complaint argued in his private complaint that accused Mubashir Luqman hosted a progress on March 08, 2020 at Samma TV with Aqeel Karim Dhedhi and both accused entered into a criminal conspiracy to defame ex- chairman of the complainant Bank.

Citing above mentioned accused persons, counsel pleaded that aforesaid defamatory remarks were made and broadcasted throughout the world by the accused persons with common intent to harm the reputation of the JS Bank and JS Group in furtherance of their aforementioned criminal conspiracy against the complainant, the accused no 1 and 2 were the originators of the said defamatory remarks as such the actions of the accused persons amount to offences defined under section 499 P.P.C and section 120-A P.P.C read with section 34 P.P.C trailable by a sessions court.
