Customs ASO impounds smuggled tyres from warehouses located in old Sabzi Mandi

KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs Preventive, Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) seized huge quantity of smuggled tyres dumped in warehouses in old Sabzi Mandi.

Sources told that Collector Preventive Saquif Saeed received credible Information regarding dumping of old tyres in old Sabzi Mandi.

He immediately directed Additioal Collector Haroon Malik to take necessary measures in this regard. Assistant Collector Shafiullah coordinated with local police and secured permission from a area majistrate regarding the raid.

Late in the night, ASO team under the supervision of Superintendent Iftikhar Hasan along with contingent of Police raided the warehouses and recovered around 5 containers being loaded with smuggled tyres.

It is necessary to mention here that while the tyres were being removed to Customs House, the owners of the goods created a law and order situation and fired shots. Superintendent Iftikhar Hasan and two other Customs officials sustained minor injuries.

Customs Preventive after registering a case against owners of the godowns started further investigations.
