Customs ASO impounds Rs 43m illegally imported tyres near Shariqpur Interchange

LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs Preventive Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) impounded over Rs 43 million illegally imported tyes of assorted types from a container facing intense resistance from the smugglers.

As per details on the directions of Collector Basit Maqsood Abbasi Customs ASO Lahore intercepted a container at Sariqpur Interchange Lahore Multan Motorway and recovered 2650 illegal imported tyre of assorted types.

Official sources said that during the course of operation the smugglers attempted many times to run away with tyres container, however, the ASO team under the supervision of Additional Collector Muteen Alam and Assistant Collector Ali Tauqir  AC, Inspectors Abdul Hameed Bhatti , Abdul Rahman Butt, Nasir Saeed, Asghar Purawal and others encountered and successfully drove the container to the state wharehouse at Thokar Niaz Baig.

The ASO team demanded legal document from the driver and his a compliance but they failed to produce any documents but a billty of 787 Goods Transport All Pakistan Service containing the name receiver as Hagi Juma while sender as Ibrahim.

The customs authorities registering a case have initiated further investigation.
