Hyderabad ASO seizes Afghan transit trade goods worth Rs13.85m near Hatri

HYDERABAD: Collectorate of Customs, Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) impounded huge quantity of foreign origin goods marked “Via Karachi in transit to Afghanistan”. Total value of goods is Rs13.85 million.

These goods were being transported to Rawalpindi from Karachi in the garb of import Goods Declarations (GDs).

Sources told that after receiving credible information, the staff of ASO intercepted a truck along with 40 feet container loaded with cartons of Afghan transit goods at Hatri bypass, district Hyderabad.

The recovered goods include Nescafé Coffee, Iranian origin chocolates and confectionary, UK origin wheat biscuit and infant milk, Indian origin Lace etc.

Customs anti-smuggling squad seized entire goods and vehicle was also taken in custody. Sources told that Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization after registering a case of smuggling started further investigations.
